obamachampionWell, boys, great job staying put until this day, and beyond.  You will be born during an extremely difficult time in our country.  Thank goodness your mom & dad are full of hope and excitement about this new president.  Welcome, President Obama.

The good news is that our boys will be very thrifty , since they will be depression era children and used to people being careful w/money , instead if feeling entitled and spolied. Small bit of “look on the bright side” of being born in an economic crisis : trying to be positive instead of worrying too much about it 🙂

Amen, Emma! The four boys among the two of you will be destined for success and hardworking pillars of society, like their parents. And they have the added advantage of being twins – who will know nothing other than sharing everything! Hooray for twins!

A long message, but if you can make it to the end, it adds a nice dimension to this wonderful event.

I received this email which has been verified as true that President Obama (don’t you love saying that) took the oath with a kata (silk scarf) from HH the Dalai Lama in his pocket.

    From: “Richard C. Blum”
    Date: Tue, 20 Jan 2009 14:40:46 -0800
    To: Lodi Gyari
    Subject: The Inauguration

    Dear Lodi,
I hear that during the ceremony you were on the phone to Kathmandu; presumably to Norbu. You will be delighted to know that I had a kata at my house that His Holiness had given me. I offered it to President Obama before the ceremony. I said that I could get it delivered to him later. He said, no, that he was going to take it and have it with him; in fact, it was in his pocket when he was sworn-in. Please let His Holiness know.

    I’ll talk to you soon.

    Best personal regards,
    Dick

Richard C. Blum is an investment banker and the husband of United States Senator from California Dianne Feinstein. Lodi Gyari is HH The Dalai Lama’s Special Envoy (he has negotiated with China on Tibet’s behalf, etc.) He lives in Virginia with his family.
