Whoa, here are some pictures I must post before I can move on.

The lovely Duffy ladies, thanks for a wonderful visit to Ridgewood!

Must be summer, these teachers look so relaxed and happy! Can you spot the bride to be? The Birthday Girl?

Notice the stalking tiger in the back, I agree she is delicious.

Leo is in LOOOOVVE. Me too.

Special visits with Gigi, can never get enough.
And now for some other special visits we had . . .

Marnie & Quinten!

Biffy & Asher!

Kat & Natalia!

And if you couldn’t spot the bride before, here she is with her beau, happy marriage Carrie & Rob!

Rush, thanks for helping me embed video!!
And now what you really came for . . .
We’re spending a lot of time poolside these days. M&L love the water and the heat has finally turned on. We swim every afternoon in the shadow of our neighbors’ house. Good thing since we don’t have a bathtub that fits anymore!

We think we’re ready for cereal!

This first time was our cleanest by far. All downhill from here. To be followed by swim in the pool!

We spent a gorgeous week on the shores of Lake Ontario.

Everyone had their favorite vacation activities.

Baby Maggie knows twins are used to getting bopped in the head!

We returned home to Colorado Buddies!!! How did THESE boys get so big?

How cute are the newlyweds?

Our first dip in the big pond – we all loved it!

And if I’m crazy enough to put a picture of my postpartum self in a bathing suit, I can catch these pretties in their pj’s. Thanks for a great visit to the shore Shah family!

Road Tripping!
And what a journey it was! Babies are great company on the road. They occupied us just enough to make us feel useful, and were peacefully sleeping the rest of the time. We must treasure the days before “The License Plate Game” and other diversions are necessary.
1 stop on the way down . . . isn’t it lovely?

I guess “No Services” means “Not even a freaking picnic table for you!!”

What you can’t see here – the flies, ew. Bad parents, bad bad bad.

Made up for this on the way home when we stopped in Monticello and found the greenest lawn we could find. Just so happens it was in front of the county courthouse/ jail. Bad parents, bad bad bad.

As usual, the fellas are no worse for wear, the best babies we have ever had!!

Both the guys got to have a bottle with their GiGi – Great Grandmother! Such special days!

We think Gaga was a little shocked at how big they have gotten since he saw them last! Thanks for all the bottles and good lovin’ Gaga, Netnet and Juice! We think their lovin’ arms are the ones that encouraged them they can start sleeping through the night. Score? 2 to 2, and never on the same night, but who is counting? We are soo proud – and getting more rested every day.

Aunt Julie, the biggest sucker for babies around!

Matt matt matty matt, matty matty matt matt (and cousins – yum yum!).

Cousin Maggie could be the third twin (triplet?!), at ~12lbs. she is probably right between Matt & Leo. Notice she is the only one cooperative enough to look at the camera. Love you Mags!

And the first golf balls of the year were hit WAAAYYYY into the lake. Must be summer – so where is the sun?!

Pinata Apples – Pregnancy’s Perfect Food
Apples – No heartburn, no reflux, FIBER! I’m eating 2 at a time these days. Pinatas are harder to find downstate, so falling back on Honeycrisps when necessary. EAT LOTS OF APPLES, pregnant or not! They’ll be mushy and wrinkly and waxed and imported soon.
Pinata Apples
This apple from the Pacific Northwest is the result of a cross between a Gold Delicious and a Cox Orange Pippin. The Pinata Apple won “Apple of the Year 2004” honors in Europe. Its flavor is very sweet and it has a soft texture. Wonderful for cooking or eating out of hand! Available through May or until the grower sells out.

Way Upstate, Wedding Weekend
Sooooo, many of you are staying at the S. hotel on a certain upcoming weekend. This is a great place to stay, since you can walk to many attractions. The first I will recommend is what will surely be a rockin’ fun wedding. But if you’re coming early, or staying late . . .
Now, let’s start with food (of course!). The S. itself has a nice restaurant, but a little stuffy. More variety exists on Park Ave. Just one block away. Bistros, coffee shops, sidewalk dining.
My favorites:
Hogan’s Hideaway – Casual, family friendly, great food, outdoor seating, really quick walk
Jine’s Restaurant – Same, a little further, also on Park Ave
Magnolia Cafe – Also on park, same. Yum.
Cibon – wine, cheese & panini – euro scene
Park Avenue Pub - finer dining.
Something to keep in mind: Starting Saturday morning, all of Park Ave. will be closed for the Park Avenue Festival. (This website will also show you stores and boutiques in the area). This is a mecca of arts & crafts (or farts and craps as we called it at camp). Kettle corn, fried dough, lemonade and all of those other summer delicacies I can’t wait to get my hands on. There are bands, crowds, and usually at least one weird guy carrying a boa constrictor around his neck. Hey, why not? Go! Enjoy!
The best gift shop ever, Parkleigh, is right next to Hogans.
WHAT TO DO:
Kids. If you have kids, you MUST go to the Strong Museum of Play. It is world class and wonderful. It’s about a mile and a half from your hotel and a must-do.
Well, the other museum is really close to you too. You’ll be there for a special event, but if you haven’t had enough, the RMSC is great fun.
PS: We’ll be conversing over cocktails with this big fella:
George Eastman House – kinda like touring a Newport mansion, but with a great photography museum attached. GE was the founder of Eastman Kodak, a philanthropist, and very very eccentric. Also in walking distance.
The Charlotte boardwalk and pier is a great place to experience Lake Ontario. There’s a carousel, Abbott’s ice cream, and lots of great cheeseburger/onion ring joints. It’s great for kids or a romantic date!
Also, Dan said to include info about our fave downtown eatery: Dinosaur Barbecue. It’s a honky tonk biker bar with lines (but they move quickly, grab a drink!), great service, and the best barbecue and sides ever! They aren’t the anchor bar in Buffalo (most authentic wings ever) but they are close.
OK, if you have any niche requests, I’d love to help, so comment! I can do water parks and wine tours if you’re willing to drive an hour south. Or, head for Niagara Falls, less than 2 hours West. You can have it all upstate, except skiing, you’ll have to wait a month!
(Sorry A, still no wedding stories, but I hope this is at least heading in the right direction).

Urinetown on the Road
I amazingly made it through this whole production at Geva without standing in the ubiquitous ladies restroom line once! Must have been the salty pre-show greek salad. Sorry, potty-talk is completely unavoidable.
A little late on this musical – but I’m downstate bound. In the meantime, we get our theater 6 years after it booms in NY. This was worth waiting for. This show has so much going for it, even the local-theater glitchies were not so important. So much to think about. Read 2001 NYT review here. The final cry of “Hail Malthus“set the show into a whole different relief for me. I had been thinking about the health care system and Michael Moore’s new movie Sicko. As I said, a lot going for it. And very, very clever.
As Little Sally says, “I don’t think too many people are going to come and see this musical.” I felt the same until last night. There’s a reason it made it on tour.
Plus, I got to spend time with my 3 Geva Divas. Dinner alfresco, a glass (2?!) of wine, and the usual lots and lots of laughs. Downstate has up-to-date theater, but it cannot hold a candle to these friendships.

Flipped the Bird
Yup, just over the Throg’s Neck. Welcome to LI. Now, I know I was weary, only semi-signaled, and didn’t really know if I was in the right lane, but come on buddy! Gimme a break!
So my new blog idea is this: Road Rage Recovery. People can go on and atone for their sins. I would have apologized if I had his cell number, or one of those police megaphones on my car. Instead, my half-wave was probably interpreted as my own obscenity (he WAS passing me at high speed on the right – a hanging offense upstate).
So here goes, man in white shirt, with little silver car, who I cut off on the Throg’s Neck bridge, I’m sorry, Man.
